Saturday June 22nd was a hot and humid day – and a perfect day for an archery biathlon!
For the second year in a row, we were pleased to support We Are Young (WAY) and raise donations and awareness for this incredible cause, which grants wishes to senior members of the community to live out experiences they might not otherwise have had the opportunity to do. Members of our office and of the community (including the mayor of Middlesex County, Aina DeViet) came out in full force to participate and volunteer.
This year, we were thrilled to welcome WAY founders Cara Chisholm and Katie Mahoney all the way from the east coast to participate in the run/walk-archery biathlon. Their passion and drive for the work they do for this charity is truly inspiring. From an idea that started with bringing a senior citizen to get her nails done to a charity that is flourishing and granting seniors their dream of riding a horse or climbing a lighthouse, Cara and Katie are continuously expanding their foundation from the east coast into Ontario and across Canada.
The event took place at Antler River Lodge in Delaware. Participants were divided into two groups – competitive and recreational- and ran (or walked!) 5km, with an archery station at each 1km interval. Congratulations to everyone for powering through and giving it their all on a hot sunny day to make the day a fun and memorable one. A huge thank you to all the participants, the volunteers, and Sayra and Mike for making it happen.
We look forward to next year’s WAY Archery Biathlon, tentatively scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 21st. If you would like more information on how you can participate or volunteer, please feel free to reach out to any of us at The Andrews Group.
